Regular readers will already be aware that the highlight of
Colin Andrews' 1993 lecture tour was his scheduled appearance at
the United Nations in October. This lecture had been promoted by
Andrews in numerous public statements (eg see CW17 page 32) and via the
following pre lecture press release, which featured the United
Nations logo: (CW18)
Colin Andrews' Address at the United Nations Mohammad Ramadan, president of the parapsychological group at the United Nations who recently sponsored Richard Hoagland's presentation to the U.N. on the mission to Mars, met Colin Andrews at the United Nations building in New York several months ago. At the meeting Mr. Ramadan set Colin the almost impossible challenge of discovering the meaning behind the crop circles and ancient writings, including alleged UFO and extraterrestrial writings, the findings of which [are] to be presented at the U.N. in October. Many front line research contacts have already been drawn up to assist in bringing together the vast data pool of information held by research groups and governments from around the world. Numerous governments have studied and collected information related to the UFO and the Crop Circles. They have clearly found it difficult, if not impossible, to make any public statement on matters associated with both. Unusual patterns, assumed as writings (ie languages) have appeared in fields in the form of crop markings and have been scratched on metallic surfaces following alleged abduction cases. These etchings resemble markings on Sumarian Tablets and petroglyphs on stone and rocks in several parts of the world. The mammoth task is to try and piece these together and see if there is a cohesive message. Those who claim extraterrestrial contact and communication with such through symbols are to be part of this four month blitz on the world's data bank. This may represent one of the first opportunities to bring major information regarding such events into the realm of the public through a non-political figure under the auspices of the U.N. Ultimately, a situation of such immense proportion must certainly be addressed through the resources of this assemblage. Careful assessment of all the facts known to us will be studied before the presentation is given at the United Nations on 21st [sic] October. The presentation will be attended by delegates and U.N. officials and is open to the general public. For more information contact Mohammad Ramadan at the U.N. Tel (212) 963-6506. I intend to present this information again at the Reykjavik in Iceland on 3-7th November [1993]. For more information, contact: Iceland International Conference, Tony Dodd. Tel England

I am sure readers will agree with me when I state that Colin
Andrews must indeed be one of the greatest scientists of our time
to be set such a monumental task by the United Nations and to be
given only four months in which to do so !! Stranger still, it
seems that the Crop Circles are not only linked with ancient
writings, UFO abduction cases and Sumarian Tablets, but the
infamous "Face on Mars" is involved as well !
Now go and re-read this press
release again. Mr Andrews' pre- lecture press release clearly
implies on several occasions that his lecture is to be made to an
official United Nations body, the "parapsychological
group". According to his own press release Mr Andrews has
already met the "president" of this group
"at" the United Nations. A "presentation" is
to be given where "delegates and U.N. officials" will
be attending, along with "members of the public" - some
reporters perhaps ? Even the official UN logo features at the top
of this press release. It sounds simply wonderful, doesn't it !
Well far be it for me to cast aspertions but I suspect that
some readers will probably be a little mystified by the claims
carried in this press release. It is strange, for example, that
Mr Andrews' press release fails to mention the other speakers due
to speak at this symposium, but perhaps this is merely an
accidental oversight on Mr Andrews' part ? Anyway, the other
speakers at this Symposium were John Schuessler, of Houston,
Texas, and Dr Rauni Luukanen-Kilde, who hails from Finland. John
Schuessler was one of the founding members of the Mutual UFO
Network (MUFON) and was involved in the investigation of
the famous Cash-Landrum CEII case in 1980. He is an aerospace
engineer who has long believed that UFOs represent alien
spaceships. Dr Rauni Luukanen-Kilde is also a prominent member of MUFON
who was formerly a Chief Medical Officer in Finland. Dr Rauni
Luukanen-Kilde has written several books endorsing alien contact
claims and "channelling" between aliens and humans. She
is well known on the international UFO lecture circuit and even
attended BUFORA's 25th Birthday party !
Now who is this Mohammad Ramadan, the "president" of
this austere and revered group ? According to what appears to be
his own newsletter (Renaissance, Jan/Feb 1994) Mr Ramdan
was:
Born in the Holy Land. [He] spent his developmental years in Cairo, Egypt, where he received his B.A. in Philosophy and Social Sciences. He moved to New York in 1978, where he has been working with the UN, and since 1990, as head of the UN Parapsychological Society. Ramadan has authored and translated four books. He speaks and writes worldwide on politics, psychology, parapsychology, mysticism, comparative religion, extraterrestrial intelligence, and the human future.
Does this too not read as if the "Parapsychology
Group" is an official United Nations body ? Or perhaps I am
reading too much into what Mr Ramadan writes ??? Now if you
haven't fainted from all this excitement read Colin Andrews' post
lecture press release ...
Statement by Colin Andrews dated 3rd November 1993, Issued by CPR-International (USA Office - Connecticut) "I was invited to address the S.E.A.T. group (Society for Enlightenment and Transformation), at the United Nations, on October 22nd, 1993. Officials, delegates and the public were invited to attend in the Dag Hammarskjold Auditorium at 5:30 pm. Three speakers were invited: Dr. Rainier Luukanen from Norway; John Schuessler from the United States; and myself. The aims of the symposium were : SHORT TERM: To encourage the United Nations to implement decision GA 33/426 of December 18th 1978, which called for "The establishment of an agency or a department of the United Nations for undertaking, co-ordinating and disseminating the results into unidentified flying objects and related phenomena". LONG Term: To prepare world public opinion to co-exist and co-operate with life on other planets, if any, and to examine whether E.T.s have any connection with the present quick changes world-wide." After 11 years of intensive research on my part [!!! PF] into the world wide phenomena known generally as 'The mystery crop circles', I was asked to take a further 6 months investigating any perceived connections with ancient script, symbols and agriglyphs [pictograms, PF] from around the world, as well as writings/symbols discovered on artifacts thought to be of extraterrestrial origin. A great deal of research uncovered possible links which were to be given in my address called: An Introduction to Decoding ET-Related Alphabets. This title was chosen by the U.N. group [my emphasis, PF]. It was my intention to disclose several important pieces of information at this lecture, three particularly meaningful to us all. These were : 1. To announce advanced research on the development of a free electrical energy generation devise [sic] and the claim that the decoding of some of the crop circles had confirmed the principles employed in this devise [sic]. 2. To share the forum with a native American who was to announce to the audience his own perspective on world changes and signs which have arrived on Earth. 3. To inform those present on details surrounding the extremely important news that the government of a major country has decided to release information to the public on UFO activity. 1. It is claimed by Richard Hoagland that some of the crop circle patterns have been deciphered and the information obtained of extreme importance. This discovery might enable two of the most serious problems facing mankind to be resolved - Pollutant producing fossil/nuclear generation of electricity and similarly pollution producing transportation. The discovery, based upon Nikola Tesla's work, and crop circle decoding, has resulted in advanced developments and the imminent [sic] production of environmentally pure generation of electrical energy and pollution free transportation. No moving parts, no overhead wires, no fuel consumption. The U.S. inventor, Mr. Richard McKie, has filed a Patent (No. 5146395) 'Power Supply Two Tank Circuits'. He has patents secured in all countries in the world except India. A company has been established and banking arrangements finalized. He claims that a car prototype is up and running and will travel at over 70 MPH. This vehicle is under continued research and development. I was authorized by the inventor to give additional facts surrounding this breakthrough during my lecture at the UN, including his plan to drive the car housing this new device from Seattle to the U.N. by Christmas of 1993, as a symbolic gift to the world. Mr. McKie is hopeful the final technical difficulties will be resolved allowing this to occur. 2. A native American was planned to have joined me on the stage with his interpretation of current world changes and the discovery of certain signs which have arrived on Earth. The U.N. refused to allow this man to speak, ostensibly on the grounds of security. The refusal of the U.N. to allow to allow [sic] this message might be considered by some, especially the Hopi Indians, as a serious matter indeed. I can not [sic], and will not, become immersed with the politics concerning this, but I wish the indigenous peoples around the world good fortune and I believe a full hearing of this message to be of vital importance. 3. The indications are overwhelming that the UFO [sic] is involved in some way with changes being experienced on our planet and we need to accelerate current dialogue with our governments. Following last minute discussions at the United Nations with the Japanese representative appearing at the symposium, I was happy to be able to celebrate with the audience the Japanese and Chinese government's decision to openly research and release information on the UFO [sic]. The Japanese representative told me of plans, which have now been set in motion, to inform their people of the truth surrounding the UFO [sic]. A huge multi-million dollar museum now being built in Japan, is the first phase of the public education program. ----- The first indications that things were not going according to plan came Thursday morning when I received a telephone call from the U.N. telling me that a big commotion was going on regarding my intentions to have a prominent Native American on the stage. Three hours later it was suggested that it would be wise to cancel his appearance, before the afternoon was out, it was apparent that he would not be permitted to speak or attend the symposium. Concurrent to this big disappointment, at around 5 PM, as I was placing my last slide in position for the lecture, I was officially given the news which I had always imagined would arrive some day if we deciphered what the circle makers were trying to tell us. Richard Hoagland (Mission to Mars) reported to me that trials had been run with an electric car on the west coast of America and that the inventor had driven him around Seattle, even receiving a police ticket for exceeding the speed limit of 65 MPH. Apparently, it had arrived - the pollution and energy free devise [sic], up and running. I was authorized by Scott McKie to make this announcement at the U.N. on Friday. I met Mohammed Ramadan at the U.N. Friday morning. We were joined by guests from a number of countries, including China, Japan, Germany, U.K., Norway and the U.S., etc. We were told that the symposium had nearly been canceled [sic] but that a scaled down event would occur in the U.N. Church Centre, opposite the U.N. building. The State Department was apparently involved and placing tremendous pressure on officials. I was asked not to make political statements and to keep my talk cultural. If the events of the previous 24 hours had not convinced me of a set up - what occurred inside the new venue certainly did. The room was small and split into two by a large pillar which would ensure only about 40 people present would see the podium and slide-screen. I watched as people who were obviously under great stress made attempts to run the program [sic]. The projector screen was raised and jammed at half height - they had been given a faulty one. The public address system was turned on and could just be heard on full volume and that achieved only if your lips touched the microphone. The pointers did not work, etc., etc. Mohammed Ramadan looked totally humiliated and exhausted by the time of initiating the proceedings. Just seconds after the Japanese delegate, Mr. Johsen Takano with his interpreter, began reading a personal message from the Japanese deputy Prime Minister, the PA system failed. Nonetheless, he proceeded to announce that the Japanese government had embarked upon a policy which will change the world for ever. They will tell the world all that they know about the UFO. Perhaps it was more than the west could tolerate to have important announcements of that kind, or even the suggestion of one, made at this time. This was a very sad day for the United Nations, located on International Territory, and one must say for the United States also. I would suspect this will be the last Symposium of its kind under the auspices of Mohammed Ramadan - a man I greatly respect and admire. Colin Andrews, Circles Phenomenon Research International, P.O. Box 3378, Branford, CT 06405.
Well ! What an astonishing tale !! But it gets worse, for in
the Andover Advertiser of August 13th 1993 Colin Andrews
alluded to the possibility that the United Nations was
considering offering him a job to research the crop circles. The
Crop Watcher has written to the United Nations to check this
claim but Surprise ! Surprise ! the UN seem to have more
important things to do than set the record straight !
Andrews' post lecture press release seems to have gained
little publicity in Britain, but in the Andover Advertiser
of 12 November 1993 Andrews was quoted claiming that his lecture
had been "sabotaged by US government pressure".
Obviously this is a very serious claim. So, what about an
independent view ?
The S.E.A.T. Newsletter of December 1993 carries a
review of the proceedings of the "Second Symposium on
Extraterrestrial Intelligence and Human Future" by Anthony
Huneeus. This is what it has to say:
Despite some confusion at the beginning of SEAT's Second ETI
Symposium (Oct. 22) because seating accommodation and technical
equipment at the UN Church Centre hall were far below those of
the UN main auditorium, where the event was originally scheduled,
the situation was kept well under control by the skill of its
moderator Michael Geoghegan. While the timing of the last-minute
change was clearly "unwelcome", there is no need to
invoke dark conspiracies directed specifically at this symposium.
Inquiries with SEAT's President and other UN staffers and
accredited correspondents show that the new and more draconian
security regulations apply equally to all societies and clubs of
the UN Staff Recreation Council, when a large number of
"outsider guests" is concerned. The combination of the
current General Assembly with the threat of terrorism are the
real reasons why the event place was changed, and not any
specific policy against the open discussion of UFO's.
So - it seems that after all the hype and nonsense of Mr
Andrew's pre and post lecture Press Releases this was not an
official United Nations event but one promoted by its Staff
Recreation Council ! Neither does it seem that any "State
Department pressure" was bought to bear on the proceedings,
something Mr Andrews could have ascertained by simply speaking to
Mr Ramadan (who was intimitely involved in the proceedings !).
The SEAT Newsletter continues:
Besides the three speakers (Colin Andrews, John Schuessler and
Dr Rauni Kilde), the Symposium featured a surprise guest, Johnsen
Takano, coordinator of the government-funded Space & UFO
Museum and Archives in Hakui City, Japan. He read a greeting
letter from Satchki Eda, chief of the Japanse Science Technology
Agency, whose Hope space shuttle project was described by the
media as a 'black flying saucer'. Mr Takano flew on his own
expense, just like three other noted ufologists (Dr. Kilde, Dr.
Hoang-Yung Chiang from Taiwan, Michael Hesseman from Germany) and
dozens more from other states in the USA. There was much
expectation from the speaker, well-known pioneer cerelogist
[sic] Colin Andrews [my emphasis, PF], who was assigned by
SEAT to study a very important and difficult subject: giving an
introduction to the 'decoding of ET languages'. He attempted to
fill this complex task by showing a wide variety of symbols,
patterns and alphabets anywhere from the mythical signs of MU as
collected in the classic books of Colonel James Churchward, to
old alphabets like Hebrew and Sumarian; Celtic symbols and
aboriginal rocks and sand markings, as well as more controversial
items like channeled material, symbols seen, dreamed and/or found
in the bodies of UFO experiencers (abductees and contactees);
alleged alien markings from crashed flying saucers and sightings,
cerelogical [sic] pictograms and so on. No one could say that Mr
Andrews has not done his homework, but there is a problem with
such a wide accumulation of symbology: the sources of information
have varying levels of reliability. Mr Andrews' emotional tone
and, at times, even anger, did not enhance the quality of his
message. He talked of official opposition to the presentation of
earth-shattering revelations by Hopi elders (something that was
finally accomplished at an official UN meeting on November 22nd),
and of a dramatic 'Christmas present' to the world when a car
running on free energy will be driven from Seattle, Wa, to the UN
building on Dec. 25 by its inventor Richard McKie. He also talked
of the Interactive Brainwave Visual Analyzer (IBVA), a wonderful
biofeedback computer software developed by Mashiro Kahata (who
was present), which allows you to see your own brainwaves. The
two measured the brainwaves of dowsers at a crop circle formed
last summer in England. The results, according to Andrews, were
very promising, since they showed the dowsers experiening a peak
on their brain's right side.
This very different version of the SEAT Symposium is
really quite astonishing, for Anthony Huneeus is well known for
promoting stories of secret UFO bases in Puerto Rico and
government conspiracies, yet here he is daring to criticise
someone whose views and beliefs we might expect him to promote
enthusiastically.
Thanks to considerable funding from a source I cannot reveal The
Crop Watcher was able to send an observer to the United
Nations to report on the S.E.A.T. Conference. Our special
correspondent reports that Colin Andrews showed slides of
[allegedly real] alien beings, the hieroglyphics found on the
"UFO" debris at Roswell [widely dismissed by sceptical
UFOlogists as a crashed Fugo balloon from Japan], Aboriginal
paintings [an old favourite with Eric Von Daniken], Californian
rock art and Dogon art [ie alleged ancient astronauts], as well
as his usual collection of "ET-related" crop circles.
Anthony Huseeus' article misses out the fact that Andrews also
alleged that there was to be a video and TV programme which would
try to convince the public that crop circles were all a hoax.
Apparently the perveyor of this fraudulent video had spent £ 3
million preparing this MBF Services-style disinformation
but strangely Andrews was not prepared to name this charlatan or
the source of his information.
Of more immediate interest to readers must be the list of
"genuine" crop circle formations that Andrews promoted
during his lecture. According to our correspondent these included
the 1987 single in rape at South Wonston (see pages 48-49 of Circular
Evidence), the Goodworth Clatford quintuplet event of 1985
(pages 32-33) and the 1986 single at Cheesefoot Head. ALL OF
THESE FORMATIONS have been claimed by Doug and Dave, so why did
Andrews continue promoting them as "genuine" in his
lecture ?
Despite the fraudulent nature of Mr Andrews' press releases
and his claims concerning this event readers will not be
surprised to learn that Andrews' "United Nations"
lecture has been used by David Kingston of the Dorset branch of CCCS
to legitimise the subject and promote the alleged UFO connection,
e.g. according to Kingston :
Colin Andrews, the forerunner of all crop circle investigators [my emphasis, PF] was requested to attend the United Nations on October 22 this year with other researchers from around the world to present to them all data that has been collected on both crop circles and the presence of the UFOs.
(Dorset Evening Echo, 16 November 1993)
...and:
Some may think it is all a big hoax, but if the United Nations is taking it seriously then I think there is a little more to it. There's a talk on the subject in Dorchester this Thursday.
(Dorset Evening Echo, 23 November 1993)
Readers will instantly realise what misleading nonsense these
claims are. We expect the CCCS, if it expects its work to
be taken seriously, to withdraw these inaccurate claims with a
public statement. We also expect Colin Andrews to stop making
false claims about when he first began researching the subject.
He was never the "forerunner" of "all" crop
circle researchers. This is outrageous.
Finally, we have been informed that Andrews has had to issue
an embarrassing retraction of his endorsement of Richard McKie's
pollution-free car, which has not proved to be the fantastic
invention it was made out to be. It seems that Mr Andrews' luck
has finally run out !
Reading through the S.E.A.T. Newsletter for September
1993 here is some of the material promoted by the "Society
for the Enlightenment and Transformation". In his Editorial
Mohammad Ramadan writes:
It took us nearly three years to change the name of our UNSRC [*] Parapsychology Society to the Society for Enlightenment and Transformation. The wait was often frustrating, partly because we had to change the Constitution more than once. But the greater part was discovered later: We had to change first before we could earn a name that entails immense cosmic responsibility [my emphasis, PF]" We have heard the call for name-change from various sources. The first came as early as the Eighties from our friends at the Association for Research and Enlightenment (ARE) or the Edgar Cayce Foundation [an organisation that promotes unusual psychic abilities, PF]. Then came the stalling of activities more than once. Later, some of our core members quit. Also, gradually, we noticed that our activities went far beyond the dust-dry labs and computers of parapsychology. We were actually dealing with para-sciences in general, from para-psychics and past-life therapy to near-death experience and extraterrestrial intelligence. The last was crucial in pushing us to accept the message: We are multi-dimensional beings - and we have to act accordingly.
[PF * = the UN Staff Recreation Council]
Later Ramadan has this to say ...
As 'international civil servants,' we often feel that our colleagues are here by divine appointment [my emphasis, PF] to serve the world through the United Nations. They have very important work to do and many lessons to learn. In turn, our Society's role is to further this divine service [my empasis, PF] by serving the servers, teaching them and inspiring them, whether here in the Headquarters or in the field.
So, it seems that the UN has another Messiah-figure waiting
his turn to tell the world the Truth about the flying saucers !!
So what's on "page 3" of this illustrious magazine ?
Under the subtitle "Again, why are they here?"
there's plenty of news about Budd Hopkins lecture about the Linda
Napolitano case, Dr John Mack's lecture on "Alien
Abductions: Exploring Possible Meanings in Human Evolution"
and another talk about "The UN and UFOs". More
excitingly it seems that UN officials can go to a lecture to see
"Brain Scan Anomalies of two UFO Abductees" by someone
called David Hugggins [sic]. This talk will describe a
"lifetime of apparent abductions by aliens" which
mostly involve "sexual contacts". Some researchers get
all the luck, don't they !
Following this there is the news that rock star Jimi Hendrix
genuinely believed he was a Martian according to Curtis Knight, a
former member of Hendrix's band and author of Jimi Hendrix
Starchild. Apparently Hendrix and his band were caught in a
snowdrift in upstate New York State back in 1965 when a flying
saucer landed and saved them all from freezing to death.
Unfortunately only Knight and Hendrix saw the UFO as the other
members of his band had been "turned off" by the ETs !
Other topics debated in this reputable newsletter include the
following claims :
- That scientist Nikolas Tesla tested in 1931 a heavy luxury
automobile for a week at a speed of 130 km/hr (80 miles), driving
with electricity produced from Tachyon energy. Fuel cost: Zero;
- That American physicist Dr. Moray managed almost
simultaneously to produce continuous power up to 70kW from a box
the size of a small wine bottle;
- That the KGB used mind-control to help Anatoly Karpov beat
Russian defector Viktor Korchnoi in the 1978 World Chess
Championship; and:
- That in some parts of Russia, people are discovering the
same geometric patterns of crop circles (pictograms) appearing
like tattoos on parts of their bodies?
Sadly Ramadan doesn't report which parts of peoples' bodies
these pictogram "tattoos" are appearing on !
It is sad to see the name of the United Nations being sullied
in this way. The UN has far more important issues to deal
with than lunacy like this. It seems there is no limit to how far
some people will go in order to promote themselves and their
bizarre belief systems. There seems to be no limit to the damage
so-called researchers can inflict on the scientific study of
anomalous phenomenon. No limit to the number of people who are
prepared to follow Andrews down this blind alley. No limit to the
cynicism of researchers who wish to push their world view onto an
unsuspecting public by associating themselves with unwitting but
prestiguous organisations.
Readers will recall that this is not the first time the CPR
Group has used such a cheap trick to gain publicity for its
"research". In 1989 CPR claimed that both The
Queen and Margaret Thatcher had read the best-selling book Circular
Evidence. The story was carried by numerous media sources,
yet no proof of this claim was ever provided. Our guess is that
such proof will never come.
We call on Andrews to cease his promotion of the subject
and to leave the United Nations alone. You have already helped
destroy the crop circle subject Colin. Don't destroy the U.N.
as well. PF.
