Something as massive in scope and ambition as PROJECT 1947 doesn't just "happen".   It requires someone with enormous dedication and energy to come up with the idea and then carry it through.   Two-and-a-half years ago, that's precisely what Jan Aldrich did.

He identified the need for a comprehensive study of the "birth year" of the modern UFO phenomenon, and with help and initial funding from groups such as FUFOR, MUFON, and CUFOS, PROJECT 1947 began.

The first collection of material gathered by PROJECT 1947 has recently been published as PROJECT 1947: A Preliminary Report by the The UFO Research Coalition and is available from the Fund For UFO Research.  A "must have" for anyone with a serious interest in historical UFOlogy.

Many individuals and organizations contributed to the published PROJECT 1947 volume, and we owe a special debt of gratitude to all of them.

The PROJECT 1947 website contains only a small amount of the material gathered by Jan Aldrich and his team of dedicated volunteers.   In time, more material will be added, so please bookmark this site and check back regularly.
