Rumours and Rumours of Rumours

Maria Ward pestered the United Nations press office with "dozens" of faxes and phone calls in an attempt to have Colin Andrew's SEAT lecture cancelled ... BUFORA's investigators are leaving in droves to join Quest International...

The War of the Worlds

Did anyone notice that on the recent screening of the 1953 film The War of the Worlds one of the crash sites for the invading Martian fleet was at "Corona". This is an interesting coincidence given the claims being made about a "real" UFO crash at Corona in 1947. See International UFO Reporter, Vol 19, no 1; available from the address on page 31 for an update on the latest research into this topic.

Overseas News

Alice Keen-Soper, who is working on the proposed Arthur C. Clarke Mysterious World crop circle TV documentary, has informed me that Michael Strainic in Canada has reported finding a dog mutilated inside a crop circle. Apparently the body of the dog was inside the circle but the head was found 200 feet outside the circle. Clas Svahn of Sweden has rung to let me know that he has unearthed some historical crop circle cases in Sweden - these date from the 1920s !

Calamities, Disasters and Moral Panics

I have learnt that someone on BUFORA Council is openly alleging that I was responsible for the publication of the astonishing allegations which appeared in the December issue of the Southampton UFO Group Newsletter. I hereby deny this totally false allegation. PF.

CIRCULAR MADNESS: THE DESCENT OF CEREOLOGY

by Rosemary Ellen Guiley

PF notes : I've run out of space to republish this fascinating overview of "cereology" but if readers want to read Rosemary Ellen-Guiley's article in FATE Magazine in the January, 1994 issue, please send me a medium sized envelope with a 25p stamp on it. (Editorial address.) The comments about Colin Andrews and how much faith we can place on the Doug and Dave claim make interesting reading !
